
With a lot of hard work the team has managed
to find a little history on Knighton. We have placed Four pages

Knighton is the only original settlement on Offa’s Dyke, and
today there is still a distinctly medieval look to the town.

Ludlow
was a fortified town, one of just over a hundred in England and
Wales which had a full circuit of walls. Apart from the Castle,
it retains some well-preserved stretches of town wall and the
sites of its seven gates can readily be identified.

Ludlow Castle is first referred to by chronicler in 1138 but its
date of origin is not certain. The architecture suggests that the
curtain wall of the inner bailey, its flanking tower and parts of
the gatehouse-keep
date from the late 11th century.
